⛲ The 10 Thermal Baths in French-speaking Switzerland in 2020

Thermal baths in Western Switzerland

French-speaking or Western Switzerland contains 10 thermal baths to which the Torpille team has added those of Leukerbad very close to French-speaking Switzerland. Some are very old, such as those of Yverdon, Saillon and Leukerbad, which were exploited in Roman times as long as 2,000 years ago. Two cantons do not have thermal baths, namely Neuchâtel and Jura.

⭐: Torpille’s rating. (max 5 ⭐)

Among the thermal baths, La Torpille groups baths with water at more than 30 degrees. The Anzère baths, the Blue Bath and Aquaparc are completely artificially heated while the others take advantage of underground hot springs. It should be pointed out that there is no definition of the concept of “thermal bath”, the word “thermal” means heat and therefore any heated baths can claim to be called thermal baths.

General note: People for whom peace and quiet are important should NOT come to the thermal baths at weekends, on public holidays or during school holidays. All thermal baths can be subject to very heavy traffic and a noisy atmosphere at these times.

Which thermal baths should I choose ?

In the Torpille’s opinion, the best baths in our listing are clearly those in Leukerbad. They own:

  • A pool for toddlers from 0 to 2 years old.
  • A pool for children from 3 to 8 years old with castles and slides.
  • Two slides for teenagers and adults.
  • A large outdoor swimming pool.
  • A large indoor swimming pool connected to an outdoor pool with pyrotechnic shows in the evening.
  • A very hot outdoor pool.

The disadvantage of Leukerbad is that it is far from Lausanne and Geneva and it will be necessary to spend at least one night on site to make the most of it. For a closer destination, it’s better to choose the Saillon thermal baths.

Finally, it should also be noted that the baths at Yverdon, Lavey and La Gruyère are prohibited for children under 3 or 4 years of age.
